Please do not associate the prawn with Bunnings. There are two fisherman co-ops down the road. Bunnings is not here to cater to your food needs. The prawn is a national treasure, please don't destroy its legacy with 1 start reviews. It really upsets him and the locals have to go out and mop up the tears to avoid flooding. That's how the northern rivers floods, not from rainfall and rivers overflowing, but from the tears of the big prawn! Please respect it, it is not just an inanimate object, it is a being with a conscious, feelings and emotions.

I expect people wanted somewhere to eat, as did I when we visited, hopefully the spare block of land is being redeveloped for exactly this, as the site has not long been sold. The big prawn was still a great thing to see and we checked out a lot of ballina in the process, worth the detour from the highway if you have not seen it and need a break from driving.

What a disappointment.
We specifically drove into Ballina on our way home to QLD to see the Big Prawn and to have a delicious feed of prawns. NOT THE CASE AT ALL. When we got here i called the phone number to ask where do we go to eat.
The young girl said we had to go into Bunnings for a feed. I asked do you have prawns in there. No she said.
What is the point of having The Big Prawn for a tourist attraction......

It is a good tourist's spot for a photo. Wish they would have a seafood shop to sell prawns instead of Bunnings.
