The glacier is fast moving, so don’t expect ice caves. It’s more walking in the crevices. The staff are friendly and look after you well. Their can be a bit of waiting around at times but you’re in a beautiful place. Well worth going to the hot pools after. Great day out.

Great day out. The day itself was very cloudy so they decided to charge us for the short trip and if things changed they would do the longer trip and charge us afterwards. It was very professional. Lovely friendly staff and the views are incredible!! Highly recommend. A must see when you are on the south island. Best experience of New Zealand.

Incredible experience! We were a group of 15 people. Not all people fit. It was the first time I saw a glacier of my life. Impressive. The guide explained the history of this glacier. He is one of the only ones who is 'alive'. He melts and there falls snow, so he always reformed.
For the climb, I was in shorts, he was hot. At the end of the descent, around 6pm, the sun was only at the top of the mountains. It was colder.
It's really an experience to do in your life!!!

One of the best attractions in South New Zealand. A beautiful site, a comfortable walk roughly 3Km towards the closest point. Many waterfalls and scenic points on the way. Relax and enjoy the walk, rather than rushing.

Definitely expensive for a family, but as a single guy traveling alone it was well worth every penny. Our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining (Lawrence) and the helicopter trip was a blast. I think this is a must-do experience for those mature enough to appreciate it. And bring your camera! You will have amazing views of blue ice.
