This whole square is quite charming. The clock and bell tower dazzle when they play. This take place in the heart of the old town, so the entire area is quaint and old. The square becomes very busy just before the bells go off, but it's easy for everyone to see, since they are high above the square. The extensive Munich subway line drops off right in this square, making travel in and out quite easy.

Awesome historical experience combined with awe inspiring architecture. Leading up to Christmas the markets cover the Marienplatz. Don’t miss Peterkirche and Frauenkirche right around the corner!

The Rathhaus its self is amazing. However, do not wait around for the clock to go off at 11, 12 noon at 5pm. It's notoriously one of the most underrated tourist traps in Munich. Spend your time exploring elsewhere!

This is the center of munich and nice place to go around for shopping and outside view of the Rathaus tower. Bad thing is they charge 3 Euro to go onto top of tower which is very small place. But you can have nice view of whole munich town.

Interesting to see the clock motion. Very pretty architecture of the "new" town hall. He clock movement try to tell a story. Fun thing to do.
