Viktualienmarkt – Munich – Germany
We just loved this daily food market!
We were not sure how to pronounce Viktualienmarkt, but it was not difficult to get there since is really center located in Munich and it’s just a fun place to stay for few hours, have some food and drinks with lots of people around!
The farmer’s market that is really popular for gourmets has a bit of everything you can imagine. You will find cheese, fruits, flowers, good wine, sausages, traditional German food, non traditional German food and, of course, lots of beer.
We arrived there after a day walking around the historic old town then we had a kind of later lunch or earlier dinner and it was surprising really affordable since it’s also a place that has lots of tourists.
We loved the ambience, the building around are really charming, people were having lots of fun and we could enjoy a great time with a good beer getting a sit in one of the tables around the restaurants.
We just wish to have another day to go back there, but our schedule was really overbooked until our next destination.

Recommend: Totally, great food and beer for a good price

Huge variety of delicious local food as well as a great open air market. A really cool place to take in some local flavor! Possible downside, not much for seating at a lot of the walk up food vendors, and restrooms are scarce.

A very typical market full of colours and flavours. There are a lot of small places to have a beer or a nice meal for good prices. As any other fine market anywhere in the world, there are lots of locals shopping or just having a beer, so be patient during your visit.

This is one of my favorite places in munich. You will find awesome fresh produce, cheese, meats, seafood and my favorite coffee spot and soup spot respectively. This is a place you have to visit multiple times as there are many delicious foods to try. Just not on a Sunday as it's closed.

Most the stalls are selling the same stuff, it wasn't that many there either. There is a fish/seafood place which has open place where you can order and eat at the counter. Don't go !!! Specially if you traveling from a country has good seafood! We ordered the Oysters, and fish burgers, they were not nice at all. We are from ireland and I have say to Ireland does have the best Oysters!! I have leaned that stick to pork or sausages while in Germany, they the do the best! Overall, this market is not attractive to tourists at all.
